It is situated in the garden of the Venetian Palace. The only door of the cell opens into the garden of the palace. The famous Turkish playwright Namık Kemal was exiled to Cyprus upon staging of his play “Vatan yahut Silistre” in İstanbul in 1873. Namık Kemal was imprisoned in this cell, and therefore is known as Namık Kemal Dungeon and Museum.
