Enkomi Ruins Alasia
Enkomi(Alasia) is an antique city which is existed near the Tuzla village. That antique city lies down to the 2000s B.C. Excavations have been made by archaeologists and they have enlightened the history of Enkomi. According to the information that has been found within excavations; Egyptians used the city at first, then Myceneans used it. The city was surrounded by the walls. The deceased people were buried under their house with their valuable possessions (as it was applied in Egyptian culture aswell). The architectural plan of city was drawn and perfectly applied. The writing was used there at first. A bronze statue has also been found in the district which is known as “Horned God Statue”. It is regarded as a cult statue and is assumed as built by Hittites. In the past, Enkomi(Alasia) was used as a harbour town. However, after 12th century, the Enkomi(Alasia) people abandoned the city when various natural disasters and several threats occurred in time.
