Where are the best biking trails near Kyrenia? What level of trails are they -= hard or easy? And what would be the best time to go there?
Some friends of mine who are biking enthusiasts are always looking for biking centric holidays.
mm145 wrote:The Kyrenia Mountain Trail and the adjacent area is a really wonderful place for mountain biking. For the serious biker there are programmes, fully supported along the trail, for those wanting a less challenging chance to pedal through paradise there are other options including day hire and shorter way marked routes. The below links will introduce you to bicycling operators who offer a selection of wonderful opportunities to experience the area.
CYPRUS ACTIVE
offers the most comprehensive range of options. They have a special 5 day biking holiday traveling the whole length of the trail (143miles/230km) - this is only available through mainly European Mountain Bike Tour Companies and Clubs. With an 18 bike Mountain-lite trailer and 17 seat minibuses they offer a series of fully supported guided or unguided choices. They have 30 Marin Bobcat Trail mountain bikes and are well geared up for the larger parties.

ALSO BIKE HIRE
Cyprus Active have 30 mountain bikes based at their Geçitkoy centre adjacent to the Geçitkoy Dam and Reservoir to the west of Kyrenia. There are eight way marked trails around the dam so it is possible to hire a bike and follow the trails. The trails, all firm and clear, vary from 2.7 miles to 12 miles. The map provided and the numbered way markers ensure that you cannot get lost. (The map and notes can also be downloaded from http://www.northcyprustrails.org free of charge). The bikes are all aluminium Marin Bobcat Trail bikes, 21 gears, hard tail, perfect for the local conditions. Bikes are available for daily/weekly hire (£8/20TL per day or £48/120TL per week) and can be collected or delivered to your hotel or villa for a nominal fee on request. For larger groups or events the company has an 18 bike trailer and can deliver to where ever is required.
